Responsibility

Lahti Region Guides Association (Lahden seudun oppaat): Responsibility in Tour Guiding

Responsibility means caring for people, the environment, and equality, while ensuring the safety of all participants.

  • A walking tour is a healthy, non-polluting way to explore a destination. We move with respect for both nature and the urban environment, following all local regulations. We prioritize accessibility and safe routes. For bus tours, we plan our routes to harmonize with other traffic while ensuring the individual safety of every passenger. Our guides possess basic first aid skills and safety training for emergency situations.

  • During our tours, we highlight practices that promote the sustainable well-being of people and the environment—such as waste sorting, energy solutions, and supporting biodiversity.

  • We actively favor responsible local services.

  • By sharing our history, we build a foundation for understanding the present and provide a perspective on the development of an equal civil society.

  • Our goal is to inspire travelers to commit to taking care of our shared environment. We discuss the small daily actions everyone can take, as well as the larger developmental trends we should all be aware of.

  • A guide’s ability to tell engaging and illustrative stories leaves a more lasting impression than dry lecturing.

  • Travelers often have a wide variety of questions. Therefore, our guides constantly seek out diverse information and keep their knowledge up to date.
